...as Nasarawa Assembly Applauds Governor’s Vision Through Capacity-Building Initiatives for Public Servants

The Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State (SSG), Barr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, PhD, has declared that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule is on track to leave Nasarawa State significantly better than he met it in 2019 by the end of his administration in 2027.
Dr. Magaji made the statement on Thursday in Lafia while appearing before the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts for a review of the 2024 first-quarter budget performance of the Office of the SSG.
According to him, the people of Nasarawa State should anticipate the most seamless and impactful transition in the state’s history, citing the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, fiscal management, and administrative reforms.
He highlighted the recent workshop organized by the state government in Abuja for public servants as a major step toward retooling the workforce for improved governance and innovation.
“His Excellency has shown unparalleled commitment to good governance by investing in the capacity of public servants. The workshop was organized to inject fresh ideas into the system,” Magaji stated.
He added, “By the grace of God, with the pace and strategic direction Governor Sule has demonstrated, Nasarawa will witness its best transformation ever and experience a smooth transition come 2027.”
On political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Magaji advised political appointees and office holders to focus on governance and refrain from premature political campaigns.
“This is not the time for politicking. The Governor is focused on delivering results, and I urge everyone to align with that vision,” he said.
Dr. Magaji also reiterated his office’s commitment to ensuring strict implementation of government policies across ministries and agencies, calling on MDAs to rise to the task as their performance will be closely monitored.
Speaking on his approach to leadership, the SSG declared, “I came with a different blueprint to make a difference in the system. No commissioner is too busy to appear before the Assembly.
If I, as SSG, can appear and engage constructively, others must do the same.”
Earlier, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, commended Governor Sule for introducing reform-oriented initiatives and capacity-building programmes aimed at improving governance outcomes in the state.
He emphasized that the oversight function of the legislature is not to witch-hunt but to ensure accountability and transparency in budget implementation.
“We are here to support and collaborate with the executive for the growth of Nasarawa State.
The Governor is doing well, and we acknowledge the efforts of the SSG in building a constructive relationship with the House,” Akwashiki stated.
The engagement marked a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government in Nasarawa State to foster transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.
