Nasarawa Environment Commissioner Hon. Isaac Danladi Attends NASU's 52nd Inaugural Lecture, Explores Climate Change Collaboration

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Isaac Danladi, on Tuesday, joined scholars, legal experts, and members of the academic community at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, for the institution’s 52nd Inaugural Lecture.

The lecture, titled “Why Laws Fail: Analyzing the Shortcomings of Nigerian Law and the Implications for Justice,” was delivered by Professor Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, a distinguished academic and former Attorney General of the state. 

The presentation examined the factors contributing to the ineffectiveness of certain laws in Nigeria and the broader consequences on justice delivery and governance.

In an interview with Journalists shortly after the the event, Hon. Danladi applauded Professor Kana for his in-depth analysis and scholarly contribution to the national discourse on legal reform and institutional accountability.

 He described the lecture as insightful and highly relevant, especially to the environmental sector where enforcement of environmental laws remains a challenge.

The Commissioner further used the occasion to engage with representatives of the Amina Mohammed Centre for Climate Change, based at the university. 

He expressed interest in forging a stronger partnership between the state government and the Centre in areas such as environmental research, climate resilience, awareness campaigns, and sustainable development initiatives.

According to him, collaboration with academic institutions and research centers is critical in addressing the growing environmental challenges facing the state, including deforestation, flooding, waste management, and climate change.

Hon. Danladi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability through knowledge-driven policies and evidence based interventions.
