The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in Nasarawa State, Barrister Isaac Danladi, on Monday, April 14th, made a stopover at the scene of a tragic fuel tanker fire incident in Akwanga Local Government Area to sympathize with victims affected by the inferno.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, April 13th, when a fuel tanker dispensing petrol at the AYM Shafa filling station suddenly caught fire.
Eyewitnesses described a dramatic moment in which the driver, in an act likened to a “James Bond” move, managed to drive the burning tanker away from the station, preventing what could have been a major disaster.

Despite his heroic act, the tanker and several nearby shops were consumed by the flames, resulting in significant destruction of property and loss of valuables.
Commissioner Danladi, visibly moved by the level of destruction, extended his heartfelt sympathy to those who suffered losses.

He also emphasized the importance of strict adherence to safety protocols during fuel handling and transportation to avert future occurrences.

He assured the affected persons of the government’s concern and commitment to ensuring a safer and more environmentally secure society.
