In a significant move aimed at promoting education and easing the financial burden on parents, the Member representing Keffi West Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu Nana, has launched a multi-million naira scholarship scheme targeting 100 students of tertiary institutions.

The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Pilgrims Welfare, unveiled the first phase of the scholarship on Saturday in Keffi Local Government Area, with 43 students as initial beneficiaries. Of the 43, 17 are from the School of Health Technology, Keffi, while 26 are students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

According to Hon. Nana, the scholarship package covers the full academic span of the beneficiaries—from their first year of study up to graduation. He emphasized that the gesture was borne out of his commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of children from less privileged backgrounds.

“This initiative is designed to ease the burden of school fees on parents and to complement government efforts in the education sector,” he stated. “We are targeting 100 students in total, all of whom will enjoy full sponsorship throughout their academic journey.”

The lawmaker urged beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and strive for excellence. He also reaffirmed his dedication to initiating people-centered programmes and policies that would improve the quality of life in his constituency.

Dignitaries present at the event included the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, represented by Alhaji Muhammed Lawal; Executive Chairman of Keffi LGA, Dr. Muhammed Damagani; and APC Chairman of the area, Alhaji Bello Soja. They lauded Hon. Nana’s initiative and commended him for aligning with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s vision on youth development and education.

Several stakeholders, students, and beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the scholarship gesture, praying for God’s continued blessings on the lawmaker. They also pledged their unwavering support and loyalty to Hon. Nana, assuring him of their backing beyond 2027.
