Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has officially unveiled the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) Strategic Action Plan 2024 2029, a comprehensive roadmap designed to guide the institution’s development over the next five years.
The unveiling took place during the university’s 4th Stakeholders’ Meeting, which also marked the one-year anniversary of the appointment of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Liman, in Keffi Local Government Area.
In his address, Governor Sule, who serves as the Visitor to the university, commended the university’s leadership for crafting a forward-looking plan and pledged his administration’s unwavering support to ensure its successful implementation.
“I came in and found a rising profile of the university.
I believe I must give my best to ensure this institution becomes what it is meant to be. I am pleased that we have a capable team driving this transformation,” the governor stated.
Governor Sule acknowledged the institution's challenges, including issues related to security, perimeter fencing, and student accommodation.
He revealed that the state government is already taking concrete steps to address these concerns, particularly by signing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) deal for the construction of 1,152-bed hostels.
“This week, we will be signing a PPP agreement with a firm that has constructed hostels at the University of Lagos.
They will replicate that model here to help address student accommodation and improve campus security,” he added.
Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Professor Attahiru Jega, commended the state government for its continued support.
He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in building a world-class institution.
“We must not leave everything to the Visitor. Each of us has a role to play in the development of the university.
That is how great institutions are built,” he said.
Professor Sa’adatu Liman, the Vice Chancellor, outlined the goals of the Strategic Action Plan, which include strengthening the university’s academic foundation, updating its curriculum to meet national and global standards, and expanding research and innovation capacities.
“The vision behind this plan was never intended to be theoretical. It is a practical roadmap anchored on measurable outcomes.
I am proud to report significant progress within the past year,” she noted.
The Vice Chancellor called for continued stakeholder engagement and support, stressing that the launch of the action plan marks a new era of growth, excellence, and global relevance for NSUK.
“This one-year milestone is not a destination. It is the beginning of a transformative journey for Nasarawa State University, Keffi,” she concluded.
