Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appointed Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi Aliyu, a former Commissioner for Information, as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC).
Also appointed as members of the commission are Evangelist Zacharia Stephen Bariki and Umar Namama Laminga.
The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, made the announcement during Monday’s plenary in Lafia, directing the Clerk of the House to notify the appointees to submit 30 copies of their Curriculum Vitae (CV) on or before April 28, 2025, in preparation for their screening.
In a separate communication, Governor Sule also sought the Assembly’s confirmation of Dr. Kasim Mohammed Kasim, a former member representing Akwanga South Constituency, as Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). Others nominated as members of the board are Alanana Attah (Member I), Hajiya Fatima Shuaibu Ahmad (Member II), and Jibrin Egwa Nagambo (Ogaji) (Member III).
The Speaker directed the Clerk to extend the same CV submission directive to the SUBEB nominees, ahead of their screening on April 28.
Meanwhile, the Assembly has passed into first reading A Bill for a Law to Make Provision for Regulating and Implementing Public Health Security Framework for Nasarawa State and Other Related Matters.
The motion for the bill’s first reading was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba. The House unanimously approved the motion.
The Speaker subsequently fixed April 30, 2025, for the bill’s second reading.
