As Christians across the globe mark the 2025 Easter celebration, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Danladi Jatau, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful in the face of national challenges and to intensify prayers for the country’s leaders.
Hon. Jatau made this call during an Easter Sunday service at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) GoodNews in Lafia. He emphasized the significance of Easter as a period of hope, renewal, and faith, urging citizens not to give up despite the current socio-economic difficulties facing the nation.
“Jesus is life, Jesus is hope. No matter what the situation looks like, there is always hope. I urge all Nigerians to keep hope alive,” the Speaker said, drawing inspiration from the resurrection of Christ, which lies at the heart of the Christian faith.
He further called on citizens to intensify prayers for leaders at all levels, stressing the need for divine guidance and wisdom to help them navigate the country's challenges effectively.
“Let us all believe in God and the power of prayer.
We must continue to support and pray for our leaders. With our prayers, they can succeed in their responsibilities, and the society will be better for it,” Jatau stated.
Commending Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for his performance, Dr. Jatau urged continued support and prayers for the Governor’s administration.
“Our Governor is doing very well. Let’s continue to support him so he can do even more for the state,” he added.
Reflecting on the spiritual journey leading to Easter, which began on Ash Wednesday and culminated in the Holy Week, Dr. Jatau highlighted the religious essence of the season.
From Palm Sunday, which marked the kingship of Christ, to Good Friday’s commemoration of the crucifixion, and ultimately Easter Sunday’s celebration of the resurrection, he noted that these events reaffirm the core beliefs of Christianity.
The Easter message, delivered by various clergy during the service, echoed the triumph of Jesus Christ over death and the eternal hope his resurrection brings to humanity.
