The Catholic Bishop of Zaria DIOCESE, Most Reverend Habila Dabo has urged the Federal to bring lasting solution to end the of lingering insecurity rocking the Country particularly the North.
He said in an interview with Journalists in Zaria on Monday he said the incessant killings and kidnapping for ransom have become order of the day and it rendered farmers helpless.
Reverend Dabo complained that terrorists and kidnappers have continued to attack farming communities at their free will and at any given time they wish to.
He pointed out that every drop of blood was scared the Government must rise to its divine and constitutional responsibility to secure the lives and welfare of the citizens, adding "just as resurrection gave hope to a discouraged people, our leaders now rose offer the same hope to a broken nation"
Most Reverend Dabo pointed out that various investment in agriculture insecurity has rendered farmers helpless, terrorists and kidnappers continued to attack farming communities, making cultivation impossible, consequently food production was crippled the agricultural value chain was aslo disrupted and food insecurity had reached disturbing level until our farm lands were safe, the dream of agricultural self- sufficient remain just a dream.
"Our economy groans under heavy weight of a severe devalued currency, basic commodities are beyond common man's reach, parents cannot feed their children, youths great dreams frustrated as their hopes are constantly dashed out, meanwhile we are governed by leaders who swore to move Nigeria forward but appear to be moving with retrogressive gear.
" He complained
The Clergy man lamented that by September 2024 the country's national debt had risen to #142.3 trillion (approximately $88.9 billion) making a #8.02 trillion increase from the previous quarter this was due to excessive borrowing and weakening of the Naira, inflating the value of external debts.
Most Reverend Dabo accused the leaders of management and embezzlement of public funds and or used to fund bloated government expenses rather than impactful social programs for the poor.
He further complained that borrowing was only means to increase the inflation, reduce public services and deepened suffering without any visible benefits.
"The current administration has taken some bold step, investing infrastructure and agriculture which could be seeds of future growth if wel managed but poor communication, mismanagement, cronyism and absence of genuine empathy for the suffering masses continue to overshadow the effort.
Subsidy removal and Naira devaluation have hurt the most vulnerable, without sufficient protection from government, leaders must return to integrity and servant-hearted governance." Said Most Reversed Dabo.
