The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has called on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to focus on addressing its internal challenges rather than engaging in what it described as baseless and ineffective opposition.
In a statement issued by the APC State Publicity Secretary, High Chief Douglas Otaru, the party reacted strongly to comments attributed to the Nasarawa State PDP and its Chairman, Mr. Adamu Bako, concerning the scheduled visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commission projects in the state.
The PDP, through a statement by its spokesperson, Jonathan Ipaa, had warned President Tinubu against visiting Nasarawa to inaugurate what it labeled as "fake and inherited projects" under the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Responding, the APC described the PDP’s position as "ridiculous and unfortunate," asserting that the opposition party has lost its direction and credibility.
“The recent statement by the PDP chairman through his press secretary, cautioning President Tinubu against commissioning projects in the state, is not only laughable but also a clear display of desperation by a party battling for survival,” Otaru stated.
He added that it was ironic for a party "embroiled in crisis and litigation" to question the integrity of well-documented and impactful projects executed by the APC-led government.
“The people of Nasarawa State can see the tangible evidence of development under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule. No amount of propaganda from a fractured opposition will change that,” he said.
Otaru urged the public to disregard the PDP’s claims, describing them as malicious attempts to mislead the people and distract from the positive strides of the current administration.
He further charged the PDP to “seek forgiveness from God and the people for its misdeeds, particularly during the last election cycle,” adding that only a sincere cleansing of its ranks would give the party a chance at political relevance.
“The APC remains focused on delivering good governance to the people of Nasarawa State and will not be distracted by politically motivated falsehoods,” the statement concluded.
