The Immediate Past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alh. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has paid a condolence visit to Toto Local Government Area following the tragic loss of six family members in a motor accident.
Balarabe Abdullahi extended his heartfelt sympathies to the Executive Chairman of Toto LG, Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, and Dr. Muhammed Musa Maikaya, the Chief Executive Officer of Maikaya Foundation, over the devastating incident that occurred on Sunday.
During his visit on Monday, the former Speaker also commiserated with the first-class traditional ruler of the area, the Onah of Ogye, HRH Alh. Muhammed Umar Azaki, as well as the bereaved families and the entire people of Toto LG.
Expressing profound shock and sadness over the loss, Balarabe Abdullahi described the accident as a colossal tragedy and a heavy blow to the community. He emphasized the inevitability of death, noting that no mortal exceeds the time destined by God.
He offered prayers for the deceased, seeking divine mercy and paradise for them, while also praying for strength and comfort for their families, friends, and associates. He urged the people to accept the incident as the will of God and to continue praying for the repose of the departed souls.
In response, the Chairman of Toto LG, Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, and his elder brother, Dr. Muhammed Musa Maikaya, who lost their loved ones in the accident, expressed gratitude to the former Speaker for his visit and prayers, wishing him divine rewards.
Reports indicate that the accident claimed the lives of an APC Chairmanship aspirant in the last local government election, Muhammed Usman Danism, his wife (a biological sister to the LG Chairman), and four others. The tragic incident occurred along the Abaji-Lokoja road on Sallah day while they were on a visitation shortly after observing Eid prayers in Toto.
