In a bold move to combat climate change and restore Nasarawa State’s forestry ecosystem, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Isaac Danladi, is spearheading a transformative afforestation initiative.
Recognizing the urgent need for environmental sustainability, he has taken decisive steps to revamp forestry facilities, promote tree planting, and strengthen conservation efforts.
During a recent inspection of the Divisional Forestry Office in Lafia, Barrister Danladi expressed deep concern over the poor state of the ministry’s afforestation projects.
Many trees, once envisioned as a shield against climate change, have suffered from neglect, a situation he is determined to reverse.
To this end, he has mandated immediate action, including a proposal to fence the facility—ensuring the protection of valuable ecological resources, including aquatic species such as crocodiles.
With a firm commitment to climate resilience, the commissioner is championing afforestation not just as a policy but as a lifestyle for communities and institutions across Nasarawa State.
He believes that environmental stewardship must be a shared responsibility, urging citizens to actively participate in reforestation efforts that will secure a healthier, greener future.
“Climate change threatens not only our ecosystems but also our livelihoods and economic stability. We must act now to restore our forests and promote sustainable environmental practices,” he emphasized.
