The Chief Judge of Niger State Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik,has embarked on her annual prison visit aimed at decongesting the facilities.
Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik during the visit at the Suleja Federal Medium Correctional Custody granted bail to four inmates who were on awaiting trial at the Magistrate court,while three others serving various jail terms were released
Those released, according to the Chief judge, were found to be of good conduct and remorseful while serving their jail terms at the correctional Custody.
Justice Halima Ibrahim had during the visit reviewed some cases of those inmates who were awaiting trial without being taken to court for proper prosecution by the police.
The Chief judge also ordered the summary trial of those inmates that their cases were still pending in court while those standing trial on Capital offenses at the High court were to continue with their trial.
A total of forty cases ranging from culpable homicide,armed robbery, kidnapping among other heinous crimes, were directed to be taken over by the office of Director of Public Prosecution in the state Ministry of Justice for speedy prosecution.
On the First Day the C J Justice Abdulmalik, who was accompanied by senior magistrates and other principal officials of the Ministry of Justice, reviewed more than Forty cases, ranging from murder, kidnap, armed robbery and theft among others.
Controller of Nigerian Custodial Service FCT Command Olatubosun Ajibogun CC thanked the Chief Judge for the visit.
The Controller told the released inmates to see their release as a gateway for them to turn to a new leave and avoid any act that will bring them back to the correctional facility.
The exercise was graced by Federation of Women Lawyers, Counsel Aid, Human Rights among others.
