The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Isaac Danladi, has called for strategic partnerships to combat gully erosion and other environmental threats in the state.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Environment and Safety Management Institute of Nigeria on Wednesday, Commissioner Danladi emphasized the urgency of addressing the environmental crisis, particularly the adverse effects of waste disposal in waterways.
He highlighted the need for public enlightenment campaigns to curb indiscriminate waste dumping, especially during the rainy season, and stressed the importance of advocacy at the local government level to mitigate environmental hazards.
The Commissioner assured the delegation of his commitment to fostering collaboration aimed at maintaining a clean and environmentally sustainable Nasarawa State.
Earlier, the team leader of the delegation, Martin Lorsamber, congratulated Commissioner Danladi on his appointment and proposed that the institute serve as consultants to enforce compliance with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) in the state.
He expressed confidence that the partnership would enhance environmental governance, safeguard public health, and ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations.
