Group Backs Removal of Benue Chief Judge Over Corruption Allegations

Mr. Anyi Sunday has said that the Chief Judge of Benue State, Hon. Justice Maurice Ikpambese lacks the moral rectitude to remain in office as the Chief Judge of  State following allegations of corruption and gross abuse of office labelled against him recently.Addressing a press conference in Makurdi, a human rights organization, Transparency Global Watch  threw it's weight behind the decision of the Benue State House of Assembly on its recommendation to remove the Chief Judge.
It highlighted numerous allegations of judicial misconduct and criminal behavior against Ikpambese, including abuse of office, misappropriation of funds, and interference in judicial processes. 
The organisation accused Justice Ikpambese of unethical conduct and misuse of power, particularly in relation to the estate of the late Dr. Dabo Adzuana.
"Despite calls for his removal, Ikpambese continued to act inappropriately, leading some to question his fitness to serve as Chief Judge".
Transparency Global Watch commended the Benue State House of Assembly for taking steps to recommend Ikpambese's removal and called for further action from the National Judicial Council.
The organization expressed support for Governor Hyacinth Alia and called for a visa ban on Ikpambese as a deterrent to others.
Transparency Global Watch emphasized the importance of upholding democracy and holding judicial officers accountable for their actions.
