Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to executing developmental projects without resorting to bank loans.
He declared that his government would not borrow “a single kobo” for project implementation across the state.
Speaking at a Ramadan fast-breaking event at his residence in Lafia, where he hosted media executives, members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council, and the Correspondents’ Chapel, Governor Sule emphasized the critical role of journalists in governance and public accountability.
He revealed that upon assuming office, his administration inherited a ₦57 billion debt from the previous government but successfully cleared it.
Despite this, he assured that his administration remains focused on delivering more infrastructural projects across the state.
Governor Sule announced that contracts had been signed for the Keffi Roundabout flyover, the completion of the Akwanga underpass, and the dualization of roads in Akwanga.
He stressed that Nasarawa is among the few states in the country currently without outstanding debts.
As his administration enters its final two years, Governor Sule vowed to accelerate infrastructure development, ensuring that the people of Nasarawa State benefit from his government’s policies.
In his remarks, NUJ Nasarawa State Council Chairman, Comrade Salihu Alkali, lauded the cordial relationship between the union and the state government.
He noted that the Ramadan fast-breaking gathering would further strengthen collaboration between the media and the administration.
