Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has officially commissioned the remodeled Nasarawa State Government Printing Press, marking a significant milestone in his administration’s drive to modernize government operations and enhance efficiency.
Originally established in 2001, the printing press had suffered years of neglect, with its equipment becoming obsolete. Previous efforts to upgrade the facility proved unsuccessful.
However, Governor Sule’s administration has now revamped the entire facility, installing state-of-the-art printing technology to improve service delivery and cut government printing costs.
"This printing press was first commissioned in 2001, and we must appreciate those who initiated it. Unfortunately, much of its equipment became outdated, and past attempts to upgrade it failed. Today, by the grace of God, we have transformed it with cutting-edge technology capable of handling modern printing needs," the Governor stated.
Mandatory MDAs Patronage & Revenue Generation
To ensure optimal utilization of the facility, Governor Sule directed the Head of Civil Service to issue a circular mandating all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to patronize the government printing press.
The facility will now handle the printing of essential government documents, including gazettes, receipts, posters, banners, and other materials, eliminating the need for outsourcing.
Additionally, the Governor emphasized the facility’s economic and job creation potential, revealing plans to train indigenes on high-tech printing operations, equipping them with technical skills while generating revenue for the state.
Quality Assurance & Confidentiality
Governor Sule further tasked the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism with ensuring that the printing press delivers top-quality, competitive services comparable to commercial printing firms.
Speaking to journalists, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, highlighted the security advantage of the remodeled press, stating that government agencies can now print classified and confidential documents in-house, eliminating risks associated with external presses.
He also affirmed the ministry’s commitment to training personnel to maintain the facility’s efficiency.
