Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State at the weekend condemned the barbaric activities of assailants operating in some parts of the state and vowed to swiftly address the ugly situation.
The Governor who expressed concern in a statement following renewed attacks by armed herders in Kwande Local Government Area reassured the people of his government's efforts to bring peace to the Local Government and entire Sankera region.
The Governor particularly regretted the state of insecurity in Jato-Aka and Sankera areas and promised an improved response to the security situation in the axis.
Governor Alia mentioned that security agencies have been deployed to strategic locations in the affected areas to prevent further attacks and to restore peace.
The Governor reiterated his administration's commitment to the protection of lives and properties in the state, assuring the residents that no efforts will be spared in bringing the perpetrators of these heinous acts to justice.
He expressed his love for the people of Kwande, Ukum, and the entire state, promising to ensure that they are adequately protected from further activities of armed herdsmen invasion.
Governor Alia also sympathized with the victims of the recent attacks and urged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.
He warned against using his name to incite controversy and emphasized that he was fully committed to working for the welfare of all residents in the state.
He also called on the residents of Benue State to remain calm and vigilant as the government works tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the people.
He praised the efforts of the security agencies in combating the security challenges in the state and urged them to continue working diligently to maintain law and order.
