The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kano Zonal Directorate, has re-arrested popular TikTok influencer, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, for allegedly abusing and mutilating the Naira.

Kunya was apprehended at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano, where she was allegedly seen spraying Naira notes in violation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act. Her arrest comes after she had earlier been granted administrative bail following her initial apprehension in January 2025 for similar offenses.

However, she failed to appear before the Federal High Court in Kano for her scheduled arraignment, prompting a manhunt by the EFCC.

After weeks of surveillance, operatives of the anti-graft agency successfully arrested her on Sunday, March 16, 2025. She is now in EFCC custody, awaiting legal proceedings.

The EFCC has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding financial regulations and warned the public against acts of Naira abuse, including spraying, stamping, and mutilation, particularly during social gatherings.
