Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Isaac Danladi, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting sports development in the state.

He made this known when he received a delegation from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), led by its chairman, Comrade Smart George, during a courtesy visit to his office.

In his remarks, Danladi expressed gratitude for the visit and acknowledged the time constraints that had previously delayed the meeting due to the assumption of duty by a new permanent secretary in the ministry. He thanked SWAN for their patience and understanding.

“I sincerely appreciate your visit despite your tight schedules.

Your presence here is a great reunion for me, as I see familiar faces that I have missed since my retirement.

I had to take some time off to restrategize, but I’m back, fully committed to service,” Danladi stated.

He also commended SWAN for their role in promoting sports and assured them of his continued support.

"Sports is in my blood. Even though I am now in the Ministry of Environment, I remain a strong supporter of Nasarawa United and other sporting activities in the state.

We must work together to ensure the progress of our teams," he said.

Danladi emphasized the importance of addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, and flooding, noting that his ministry is working tirelessly to mitigate these issues.

Earlier, SWAN Chairman, Comrade Smart George, congratulated Danladi on his appointment and praised his contributions to sports development.

He noted that although Danladi was not initially expected to be in the Ministry of Environment, his leadership qualities and commitment have been evident.

“We know your passion for sports, and despite your new role, we have seen you actively supporting the current management of Nasarawa United and other sporting activities.

Your wisdom and experience remain valuable to the sports community,” George stated.

He urged Danladi to continue his support for sports in the state, particularly as Nasarawa United faces critical matches in the coming weeks.

The meeting ended with mutual assurances of collaboration between the ministry and the sports fraternity in the state.
