The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project has reinforced its commitment to supporting Nasarawa State in addressing land degradation and climate change challenges.
During a strategic session in Abuja, the National Project Coordinator, Abdulhamid Umar, engaged with the newly appointed State Steering Committee Chairman and Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Isaac Danladi, to realign efforts for maximum impact.
ACReSAL, a World Bank-backed initiative spanning 19 Northern states and the FCT, plays a crucial role in environmental sustainability. Nasarawa State remains a key beneficiary, with plans to enhance collaboration through grassroots interventions.
Mr. Umar urged the Commissioner to familiarize himself with the project’s guiding principles to uphold its integrity. He also provided insights into satellite-based monitoring, institutional frameworks, and the World Bank’s role in implementation.
Barrister Danladi commended ACReSAL and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to bridging gaps between the project and vulnerable communities, ensuring the success of all initiatives.
The Commissioner was accompanied by Nasarawa State’s ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Mr. Napoleon Gyobe, during the engagement.
