Sequel to reports circulating in the media about the huge sums of unpaid match bonuses owed to players by the management of Bayelsa United FC, the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), through the office of the General Secretary, has taken immediate action.
In response, PFAN has mandated the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Caretaker Committee, Barrister (Chief) Rumson Victor Baribote, and his team to visit the club and investigate the matter, particularly concerning the disregard for players’ welfare by the club’s management.
The Committee, led by Chief Baribote, has been given a five-day deadline to address the situation and report back to PFAN.
The statement, signed by PFAN General Secretary, Comrade Edema Fuludu, reads:
"We trust that the chairman and management of Bayelsa United FC, as a responsible Nigeria Premier Football League side, will cooperate fully with Bayelsa State PFAN to resolve this issue promptly.
