The Senate has appointed chairmen and deputy chairmen for committees overseeing the newly established regional development commissions, following the approval of related bills by President Bola Tinubu.
Senator Babangida Hussaini will chair the Senate Committee on the North West Development Commission, with Senator Muntari Dandutse serving as deputy. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has been assigned as Chairman of the South East Development Commission Committee, supported by Senator Kenneth Eze. Senator Titus Zam will lead the North Central Development Commission Committee, with Senator Isa Jibrin as his deputy.
Additionally, the Senate has reshuffled the leadership of several standing committees. New appointments include Senator Garba Maidoki as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports Development, Senator Joel Thomas as Chairman of the Local Content Committee, and Senator Victor Umeh as head of the National Population and NIMC Committee.
Senator Umeh vacates his former role as chairman of the Diaspora Committee.
