Stakeholders in Nasarawa State have expressed strong opposition to the proposed amendment to the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) Act, which seeks to relocate the Commission's headquarters from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Minna, Niger State.

This resolution was made following the introduction of a bill sponsored by Senator Bamidele Michael Opeyemi, which proposes the amendment of Section 1 of the NCDC Act. The stakeholders consider the proposed relocation a threat to the state's developmental aspirations and have vowed to resist any attempt to move the headquarters.

They argue that the location of the headquarters in Lafia is strategic and crucial for the development of the entire North Central region. According to them, any change will undermine the objectives of the Commission and marginalize Nasarawa State.

The proposed amendment is currently under consideration at the National Assembly.
