The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Minna Branch, has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Umaru Bago, on his conferment with a Doctorate Degree in Agriculture (Honoris Causa) by the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna). The prestigious award was presented during the institution’s 33rd convocation ceremony and 42nd Founders’ Day celebration, recognizing the Governor’s outstanding contributions to agriculture and his transformative leadership in Niger State.
In a letter signed by the Chairman of the NBA Minna Branch, Barr. Isyaku Barau, the association lauded Governor Bago’s unwavering commitment to agricultural development and his visionary efforts to position Niger State as a hub of agricultural innovation and productivity. The letter described the honorary degree as a well-deserved recognition of the Governor’s exceptional contributions to the sector and his administration’s resolve to drive sustainable development through collaboration with stakeholders.
The NBA also commended Governor Bago’s dedication to making education accessible to all citizens and his advocacy for stronger ties between the Niger State Government and FUT Minna. The association expressed admiration for the Governor’s generous donation of N100 million to an endowment fund, which is expected to support the growth and development of the university and its students.
“We are particularly inspired by Your Excellency’s call for FUT Minna to continue its leadership in training and innovative research, as well as your commitment to fostering excellence in education and research for the benefit of Niger State and Nigeria at large,” the letter stated.
The NBA Minna Branch further praised Governor Bago for his progressive leadership, which continues to inspire hope and confidence in the future of Niger State. The association expressed confidence that the honorary doctorate would serve as a catalyst for even greater strides in the Governor’s efforts to revolutionize agriculture and promote socio-economic development in the state.

The conferment of the honorary doctorate on Governor Bago was part of FUT Minna’s 33rd convocation ceremony, which also saw other distinguished personalities, including Kaduna State Governor Sen. Uba Sani and Senator Muhammad Sani Musa, honored with doctorate degrees in Entrepreneurship and Technology, respectively.
