The Director General and CEO of the Nasarawa Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NASIDEA), Haruna Sani Sani, has called for a digital transformation in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, emphasizing the need for a modernized roadmap.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Isaac Danladi, Haruna underscored the importance of integrating digital tools to enhance global connectivity, improve accessibility, and establish a comprehensive database for the ministry.
He advocated for the development of a dedicated website to showcase the ministry’s activities on an international scale, stating, “Digitizing the ministry will set a standard for others to follow.”
Haruna highlighted the benefits of digital integration, explaining that satellite imagery could enable the Governor to access real-time data on Nasarawa’s mineral deposits without requiring direct communication.
He further proposed the use of artificial intelligence to monitor mining activities, ensuring a clear distinction between legally occupied sites and illegal operations.
The partnership between NASIDEA and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, he noted, is critical for advancing technology-driven governance in the sector.
In response, Commissioner Isaac Danladi described the initiative as “germane,” stressing that the ministry must align with the global shift toward digitalization. He reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with NASIDEA and leveraging its expertise to modernize operations.
Also present at the meeting were Hon. Baba Shehu, former Chairman of Keffi Local Government and Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs, as well as Lawal Yakubu Karshi, Special Adviser on Public Works, who contributed their perspectives on the proposed transformation.
