The Nasarawa State Government has issued a stern warning to civil servants against engaging in partisan political activities, emphasizing that such actions constitute serious misconduct.
In a circular signed by the Head of Civil Service, Abigail N. Waya, it was noted with concern that some public servants were deeply involved in political activities, which is in direct violation of the Nasarawa State Public Service Rules 2024. The circular cites Rule 100402 (vii), which explicitly states that "engaging in partisan political activities is an act of serious misconduct, which may lead to dismissal if investigated and proven."
Civil servants have been cautioned to refrain from such activities or risk disciplinary action.
Furthermore, accounting officers of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have been directed to ensure wide circulation of the directive to ensure strict compliance.
The state government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining neutrality in public service and warned that defaulters will not be spared.
