A Kano base Non Governmental Organization under aegis of Development Project Research Centre (DPRC) has requested the Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna State, Mal Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli to support the project achieve it's objectives.
The Project Coordinator, Dr Taofiq Abubakar Hassan put the request when the centre paid an advocacy visit to the Emir at his Palace in Zaria City on Wednesday.
He said that the Group was established 30 years ago had been in mass awareness campaign against the menace, saying "Islam doesn't support Gender violence"
His words "Prophet Muhammad warns against Gender babe violence there it's unIslamic, with this development Your Highness we are here before you to seek your blessing support on this noble course".
Responding Emir has appealed for a revisit of the abandoned Kano Muslim Personnel Law towards enhancing women's rights in
Northern Nigeria.
Bamalli noted that the provisions in the legal system was limited thereby hindering women's rights; therefore, application of the codified Law would strengthen the rights of women and girls in the region.
He opined that when passed into law, the draft bill may become applicable all over the country.
According to him, bill was not passed into law when presented before the Kano State House of Assembly for some political reasons.
He however, urged them to ensure the speedy facilitation of Bill for passage into law at least in their project states i.e. Kano and Kaduna state.
