In a groundbreaking moment of cultural diplomacy, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero CFR, CNOL, JP, made history on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, by attending the revered cultural ceremony of the Benin Kingdom.
Traditionally held once every 40 years, the exclusive event has never extended invitations to outsiders from other regions of Nigeria. However, for the first time, the Benin Kingdom honored the Emir of Kano with an invitation, recognizing his esteemed status and fostering a symbolic bond between the two great traditional institutions.
The gesture is seen as a mark of deep respect not only for the Emir himself but also for the people of Kano, strengthening inter-ethnic unity and cultural appreciation in Nigeria.
