Former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has called on the newly appointed Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Isaac Danladi, to adopt a strategic and diplomatic approach in addressing the pressing challenges facing the state’s mining sector.
Hon. Balarabe made this call during a courtesy visit to Barrister Danladi at his office where he congratulated him on his appointment and commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for the strategic choice of Danladi to lead the crucial ministry.
Recognizing the ministry’s pivotal role, Hon. Balarabe urged the commissioner to prioritize resolving the challenges within mining communities to foster sustainable development.
“With Nasarawa State’s vast mineral deposits, we have a unique opportunity to reduce dependence on federal allocations,” he stated.
“If harnessed effectively, our internally generated revenue can drive the state’s economic growth and developmental aspirations.”
He further emphasized that Governor Sule is committed to attracting foreign investors, underscoring the need to curb illegal mining activities to create an enabling environment for investment.
In response, Barrister Danladi reaffirmed his commitment to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to align with the governor’s vision for the state’s environmental and natural resource management.
He stressed that tackling mining sector challenges requires collective efforts, urging stakeholders to support policies aimed at maximizing the state’s economic potential.
