The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Nigerian Government for the implementation of the new national minimum wage and other associated benefits for judicial workers, failing which an indefinite strike will be embarked upon.
The ultimatum was given at the end of an emergency meeting held at the JUSUN national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
In the communiqué issued at the conclusion of the meeting, JUSUN resolved as follows:

Additional Seven-Day Notice:
JUSUN is giving the Nigerian Government an additional seven (7) days, effective from Thursday, February 13, 2025, to ensure full implementation of the new national minimum wage of N77,000 and other entitlements for judicial staff. -
Expiration of Deadline:
The ultimatum expires on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. If the demands are not met within the stipulated timeframe, an indefinite strike will commence on Thursday, February 20, 2025. -
Call for Urgent Intervention:
JUSUN calls on the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun (GCON), to intervene in this critical matter to prevent disruption in the judiciary sector.
The communiqué emphasized that despite previous efforts, including a 21-day ultimatum issued earlier, the government has failed to act, even though other public sector workers have already begun receiving the new minimum wage.
JUSUN stated unequivocally that failure to meet their demands will disrupt industrial harmony, and the union will proceed with an indefinite strike starting February 20, 2025.
