Mr Samuel Agada, a member of the Benue Assembly representing Ogbadibo State Constituency, said the state was making steady development.
Agada stated this in an interview with the .... on Tuesday while speaking on the 49th anniversary of the state.
...gathered that the state was created on February 3, 1976 by the then military Head of State, late Gen. Murtala Muhammed.
The state lawmaker stated that Benue had made some remarkable progress in the past 49 years, stressing that the state was not what it were in 1976.
"The Benue that we have before is not the same with the one we have now owing to the attendant changes in the economy and even politics.
"The changes in the state are immense ranging from infrastructure, economy, politics, among several others.
"We are also rising up to the challenges of underdevelopment and the state will soon be placed on the world's map of developed states," Agada said.
He commended Gov. Hyacinth Alia, for marshalling out development plans for the state, assuring that with Alia on the saddle, there was a brighter future for the state.
He added that with the crop of visionary leaders that the state had, he was confident that they would transform the state and the dividends of democracy would trickle down to the people.
He further disclosed that the state was older than him, but he believed in the dreams and vision of the founding fathers of the state.
He pointed out that the founding fathers of the state believed in unity thereby urging Benue people to emulate them and live in unity, peace and harmony.
He reiterated that if they took unity as their watch word, things would begin to fall in the right places for them and the state could be better for it.
