6 Brigade Nigerian Army Dismantles Bandit Camp, Recovers Arms in Taraba

In a strategic operation against criminal elements, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) successfully raided a notorious bandit camp on February 2, 2025, in Angwan Bala, Kambari area of Karim Lamido LGA, Taraba State.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding bandit movements, the troops launched a fighting patrol to the suspected hideout. Upon arrival, the armed bandits opened fire, prompting an immediate and forceful response from the soldiers. In the fierce exchange, one bandit was neutralized, while 23 others—including 19 males and 4 females—surrendered without resistance.

A thorough search of the camp uncovered a large cache of weapons and equipment, including:

4 AK-47 rifles

5 AK-47 magazines

80 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition

1 English-made pistol

2 locally made guns

28 cutlasses

16 motorcycles

48 daggers and jackknives


Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits, originally from Plateau State, had paid a local chief in Amar village ₦1.5 million to establish their base in the area.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, praised the troops' swift action, reaffirming the Brigade’s commitment to eradicating criminal elements and ensuring stability in Taraba State.

> "This operation demonstrates our dedication to eliminating banditry and preventing Taraba from becoming a safe haven for terrorists. We remain resolute in our mission to restore lasting peace and will continue working with stakeholders to combat insecurity," General Uwa stated.



He further urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing the crucial role of public cooperation in the fight against crime.
