Team Management clinched a 2-1 victory against Team NANNM in the final match of the inaugural CMD Cup competition.
Team NANNM took an early lead with a goal in the first half, but Team Management staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, scoring two goals at the 10th and 46th minutes to secure their win.
Speaking after the match, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Ikrama Hassan, highlighted the purpose of the competition:
"The idea is to promote physical activity, improve health, and foster camaraderie among hospital staff. We aim to strike a balance between work and play because all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
This initiative is not limited to our hospital but is a call to action for other institutions."
Dr. Hassan emphasized that all participants were hospital staff, making the event sustainable within the hospital’s resources. He expressed optimism about expanding the scope of sports in the future to include other activities such as basketball and tennis.
He further urged organizations across the state to adopt similar initiatives, highlighting the physical and mental health benefits, as well as the potential to reduce non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and cancer.
The event, attended by staff and friends of the hospital, was met with widespread enthusiasm, showcasing the talent and unity among hospital workers.
Dr. Hassan also shared the hospital’s vision for the future, which includes expanding services, improving equipment and staff strength, and enhancing the quality of care.
The CMD Cup is set to become a continuous tradition, fostering teamwork, fitness, and relaxation while contributing to better health outcomes for all involved.
