The attention of Plateau Concern Youth Groups has been drawn to a malicious and baseless press statement issued by Shitu Baimaiyi, Acting Publicity Secretary of the APC in Plateau State.
The statement unfairly targeted five vibrant Commissioners of Information and Communication as well as Water Resources, Education, Agriculture and Works
We wouldn't have bothered responding to Baimaiyi's baseless claims, but we want to set the record straight.
It's clear that Baimaiyi is envious of the credible performance of Governor Caleb Mutfwang's administration, particularly above mentioned ministries, who has been doing an exemplary job in promoting the state's programs and achievements.
Unlike Baimaiyi, who has been abusing Plateau leaders in the name of publicity, Commissioner of information and communication Hon. Ashoms has maintained a good relationship with journalists in the state and discharged his duties professionally.
We advise Baimaiyi to learn from his mistakes and understand the role of a publicity secretary. His unprofessional conduct has further tarnished the image of the APC administration in Plateau State.
Unfortunately for Shitu Baimaiyi, he assumed the role of spokesman for the Plateau APC at a time when the party's influence had waned significantly. "The broom can't sweep again in Plateau State".
We urge Baimaiyi to refrain from addressing Plateau elders in a familiar manner, as it is disrespectful. Specifically, our amiable Plateau Father, Da Jonah David Jang, has made invaluable contributions to Plateau and Nigeria, and referencing him casually in your statement demonstrates a lack of respect. In fact, even a primary school student would not draft a press statement as poorly as yours.
Just this week, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, and other national officials visited Jos, where His Excellency was crowned NIPR Patron. At the event, the President commended the professional capacity of the Commissioner of Information and Director of Press. By now, Shitu should be ashamed of his unprofessional approach to drafting press releases for a political party. We know the antics of Shittu and his paymasters.
As a group, we warn Baimaiyi to desist from blackmailing and envying the commissioners of Works, Education, Information, Agriculture, and Water Resources. Instead, he should commend Governor Mutfwang for transforming Plateau State in just one and a half years in office.
We assure the people of Plateau State that the Time is Now administration will continue to deliver democracy dividends without sentiments, regardless of tribe or religion.
