In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has directed that all casual staff in General Hospitals across the State be paid a monthly salary of N80,000.
The directive was issued after the Governor addressed a group of aggrieved casual workers from Minna General Hospital at the Government House, Minna.
Governor Bago stated that the decision ensures compliance with the State's approved Minimum Wage policy, noting that not all casual workers can be absorbed into the State Civil Service.
Additionally, he announced automatic appointments for degree-holding casual staff who have served between 10 and 15 years. Those with diploma certificates will be placed on probation and required to upgrade their qualifications within three years.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to enhancing the welfare of the people of Niger State.
