The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for revitalizing the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries, describing the move as a significant step towards resolving Nigeria's economic challenges.
Speaking during a New Year church service at ECWA Goodnews in Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area, the Speaker urged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the nation’s challenges, which he described as surmountable.
“Let us continue to pray for our leaders to succeed. Warri and Port Harcourt refineries are back on track, and with Dangote Refinery operational, fuel prices are dropping. There is hope for our country, and we must keep it alive,” Jatau stated.
He commended President Tinubu’s efforts in reviving the economy, noting that the positive changes are evident. He also called on Nigerians to embrace forgiveness, unity, and peace, stressing the importance of attitudinal change for societal progress.

“Forgiveness is key to having our prayers accepted by God. Let us forgive one another and live in peace, as peace is essential for development,” he said, urging Christians and other Nigerians to remain united regardless of differences.
The Speaker also prayed for a prosperous year and encouraged continued support for Governor Abdullahi Sule and other leaders to ensure the state’s progress.
Similarly, Hon. Mek Agbawu, Executive Chairman of Kokona LGA, echoed the call for forgiveness and peace, urging Christians to maintain faith in God and live exemplary lives. He outlined his administration's focus on agriculture, education, health, and youth empowerment.
Rev. Bitrus Kaya, the presiding minister at the service, emphasized the importance of praying for leaders instead of criticizing them.
He assured the congregation that Nigeria’s challenges are temporary and encouraged them to seek God’s guidance daily.
The New Year service featured special prayers for Speaker Jatau, other leaders, and the development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
