The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has called on citizens to embrace love, peace, and forgiveness to foster development in their communities.
He made this appeal during the first Sunday service of the year at ECWA Goodnews Bassa, Kokona Local Government Area (LGA), as part of activities marking the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Addressing the congregation, the Speaker said his visit aimed to reconnect with his immediate community and celebrate the season with them.
"I visited my community to celebrate the first Sunday service of the year with my people, as I could not make it during Christmas. Let us continue to love one another, embrace peace, and forgive at all times to ensure development in our various communities," he stated.
Hon. Jatau also commended Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for his commitment to development and urged residents to support the governor's administration wholeheartedly.
Pastor Kefas Chindo Maikoto of ECWA Goodnews Bassa echoed the Speaker’s sentiments, emphasizing the role of love and forgiveness in building a harmonious society.
Later, the Speaker attended a combined service at ECWA Jigawa LCC, led by Rev. Hassan Madaki, before proceeding to his hometown, Angiri.
In Angiri, Hon. Jatau received a hero's welcome as residents, including youth, elders, and stakeholders from Kokona LGA, celebrated his visit with drumming and dancing. The Speaker expressed gratitude for the support and prayers from his people, promising them brighter days in the year ahead.
During the visit, the youths of Angiri honored the Speaker with an Award of Excellence in Leadership. A football match was also organized in his honor, where he highlighted the importance of sports in fostering youth development and promoting peace.
The Speaker concluded his visit by hosting various individuals and groups at his residence in Angiri, further strengthening his connection with the community.
