The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has reaffirmed the commitment of the 7th Assembly to fulfilling campaign promises.
This was highlighted during the commissioning of the Yelwa Ediya bridge in Doma South Constituency, constructed by Hon. Musa Ibrahim Abubakar after being abandoned for over 30 years.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker praised Hon. Musa, a member representing Doma South Constituency, for his proactive leadership in linking nine communities through the bridge.
He emphasized that the project would significantly boost agricultural and socio-economic activities, enhancing the standard of living for residents.
Rt. Hon. Jatau urged the people of Nasarawa to continue supporting Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration, highlighting the governor’s contributions across various sectors. He also called for unity and peaceful coexistence, emphasizing that ethnic and religious harmony is vital for the state’s development.
Hon. Musa, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, expressed his commitment to quality representation. He noted that the bridge would enhance agricultural productivity, foster unity among the communities, and improve their overall well-being. He solicited continued support from his constituents to achieve more developmental milestones.
During the event, traditional leaders conferred honorary titles on the lawmakers. The Speaker was named Dan Malikin Yelwa Ediya, while Hon. Musa received the title of Turakin Yelwa Ediya. The village head, Mallam Yusuf Danladi Ogbabo, also appealed for the upgrade of local chiefdoms and the creation of more administrative units in the area.
The event witnessed speeches from various stakeholders, including the APC State Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, who commended the lawmakers’ efforts and announced educational support initiatives for underprivileged students.
Hon. Anthony Obande, a former lawmaker, also lauded the Speaker's inclusive leadership and called for more developmental interventions in Ekye Development Area.
The ceremony concluded with cultural displays and further assurances from the lawmakers to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to their communities.
