In celebration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy Governor Joel Salifu's first year in office, a novelty football match was held today, January 26, 2025, at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja. The event was part of the activities planned for their anniversary, officially set for January 27.
The match saw members of the State Executive Council, led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, facing off against members of the State House of Assembly, captained by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar.
After a competitive and spirited game, the match ended in a goalless draw, reflecting the sportsmanship and determination displayed by both teams.
In a statement signed by Unubi Emmanuel, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the novelty match was described as a demonstration of unity and cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches of government.
"This event showcases the bond and teamwork between both arms of government as we commemorate the progress made under this administration in the past year," the statement read.
The celebration continues tomorrow with other scheduled events highlighting the achievements of the administration.
