The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the passing of Hon. Ishaq Kana, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Keffi, Karu, and Kokona Federal Constituency.
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna, Speaker Jatau extended his condolences to Kana's immediate family, the Afo nation, Kokona Local Government Area, and the entire state.
He described the late lawmaker’s demise as a significant loss to both Kokona LGA and Nasarawa State.
Hon. Kana, who served in the Third Nasarawa State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011 as the representative for Kokona West Constituency, was succeeded by Speaker Jatau. During his tenure, Kana was the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, where he played a pivotal role in legislative and developmental activities.
The Speaker acknowledged Kana’s immense contributions to the development of Keffi, Karu, Kokona Federal Constituency, Nasarawa State, and Nigeria as a whole. He praised the late lawmaker for fostering unity, promoting peace, and advancing infrastructure and societal growth during his lifetime.
“Hon. Kana’s death is a colossal loss and a big blow to Kokona Local Government and the state at large,” the statement read.
“He was a leader who prioritized the well-being of his constituents and contributed positively to humanity.”
While mourning the loss, Speaker Jatau urged the deceased's family, friends, and associates to find solace in God, acknowledging that life and death are acts of divine will.
He prayed for God’s forgiveness of Kana’s shortcomings and eternal rest for his soul in paradise.
