Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the state into an agricultural powerhouse by ensuring that every arable piece of land is cultivated.
This initiative aligns with his administration's vision for agriculture-driven wealth creation and development.
Governor Sule expressed concern over the underutilization of Nasarawa's vast, fertile land during a fast train journey in China, traveling from Henan province to Nanchang in Jiangxi province at a speed of 304 kilometers per hour. Inspired by the well-cultivated farmland he observed, he shared plans to implement a cluster farming model tailored to crops most suitable for specific areas of the state, creating “core agriculture zones.”
Highlighting recent measures such as the distribution of tractors and seedlings across all Local Government Areas, the governor emphasized his administration's dedication to advancing mechanized farming.
Mr. Chen Qiang, a member of the Chinese delegation, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Nasarawa State, citing the richness of its soil compared to some regions in China.
He affirmed the group's readiness to support large-scale mechanized farming in the state.
Other members of the Chinese business delegation included Zheng You, Chairman of Tongyi Group, and interpreter Chen Xiaoping.
The partnership is expected to enhance agricultural productivity and unlock the state's economic potential.
