The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Silas Agara, has lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his exceptional commitment to youth empowerment and skill development. Agara described the governor as a "pillar of empowerment" who is equipping young Nigerians with essential vocational skills to thrive in today’s competitive global market.
The commendation was made during the graduation ceremony of 1,128 trainees from the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, held at the Late Aliyu Akwe Banquet Hall, Government House, Lafia.
The ceremony was graced by Nigeria's Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, who also commissioned various developmental projects initiated by Governor Sule aimed at transforming Nasarawa State.
The event drew prominent politicians, industry leaders, and other stakeholders, serving as a platform to discuss governance strategies and grassroots development initiatives.
In his remarks, Agara praised Governor Sule’s visionary leadership, highlighting its alignment with the NDE's mission to create job opportunities for Nigeria's youth. He urged young people to move away from outdated aspirations of securing white-collar jobs and instead embrace vocational training as a viable path to economic self-sufficiency.
Agara revealed plans to empower over 93,000 Nigerian youths with specialized skills, further cementing the state’s commitment to tackling unemployment and fostering economic growth.
Governor Sule’s leadership continues to inspire a collective effort among stakeholders, creating a promising future for Nasarawa’s youth and setting a benchmark for sustainable development in Nigeria.
