Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has welcomed over 40,000 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) into the APC in Katsina State.
The historic defection was announced during the flag-off of the local government election campaign held in Ingawa Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, Ganduje expressed confidence in the APC's growing support base, emphasizing the party’s commitment to grassroots development.
In addition to receiving the defectors, Ganduje presented APC flags to chairmanship candidates in the state. The event was attended by members of the party’s National Working Committee and hosted by Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda.
Aminu Dahiru, Senior Special Assistant to the APC National Chairman on Visual Communication and Events, described the defections as a testament to the APC’s appeal and ability to unite Nigerians under a progressive agenda.
He further noted that the development is a major boost for the party ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
