The Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia (FUTHL), led by Chief Medical Director (CMD) Dr. Ikrama Hassan, celebrated excellence and teamwork with a dual event comprising an award ceremony and the inaugural CMD inter-departmental football competition.

Recognizing Dedication and Milestones

Dr. Hassan expressed gratitude to the hospital staff for their commitment, which facilitated the hospital's transformation from a specialist to a teaching institution.

He emphasized that the event was a celebration of individual and collective efforts toward the institution's growth.

“This event is about appreciating our dedication, which has led to significant achievements, including the hospital’s upgrade. It is a moment to commend ourselves for the progress made,” Dr. Hassan remarked.

He also highlighted the benefits of the transition, reaffirming the hospital's commitment to high standards of care despite economic challenges.

Dr. Hassan urged staff to sustain their dedication to the hospital's mission.

Promoting Teamwork Through Sports

In an effort to foster camaraderie, the hospital organized a football competition involving various departments and associations.

The tournament revealed hidden talents among staff and spurred plans to establish a dedicated sports directorate.

Dr. Hassan humorously noted that the management team had to borrow players due to a shortage of active footballers in their ranks. “The talent and enthusiasm displayed were impressive.

This initiative encourages us to explore other sporting activities beyond football,” he added.

Building Confidence in Local Healthcare

The CMD also acknowledged the support of state and federal stakeholders, emphasizing that events like these build public trust in the hospital's capacity. He encouraged staff to synergize across departments, stressing that mutual respect and collaboration are essential for progress.

“No profession in the hospital is indispensable. Recognizing the value of each department is key to our success,” Dr. Hassan stated, urging staff to continue striving for excellence and to foster confidence in local healthcare services.

Sustaining Excellence

The award ceremony served as a platform to motivate staff by recognizing outstanding contributions, while encouraging others to aim higher.

Dr. Hassan pledged to make the event an annual tradition, enhancing both professional and social bonds within the institution.

The CMD extended his appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule for his continued support and to other stakeholders for their contributions to the hospital's development.

The event concluded with renewed optimism for the future, as staff committed to improving healthcare delivery and making FUTHL a model institution.
