The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has announced the suspension of all ongoing construction and development activities across its estates in Lagos State.
In a public announcement released on Thursday, January 23, 2025, and signed by its management, the FHA directed that construction work in estates located in Festac Town, Ipaja, Abesan, Isheri-Olofin, and other areas be halted immediately.
Developers in these estates are required to report to the FHA South-West Zonal Office in Festac Town, Lagos, along with specific documents.
These include Letters of Allocation, approved building plans, payment receipts, proof of ownership, and evidence of ownership transfer (e.g., consent letters).
The FHA has granted an amnesty period of three months, effective January 23, 2025, for property owners to regularize their documentation and obtain necessary approvals.
This directive applies not only to ongoing projects but also to completed buildings and commercial properties such as hotels, restaurants, banks, shopping malls, petrol stations, gas plants, and telecommunications masts without FHA-issued permits.
The announcement emphasized that strict sanctions would be imposed on developers who fail to comply with the directive.
Property owners and developers are urged to take advantage of the amnesty period to avoid penalties.
