Reports suggesting that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been debunked.

In a statement on Sunday, a close aide to El-Rufai dismissed the claims as the handiwork of mischief-makers, emphasizing that the former governor would not make such a move without a public announcement.

Taking to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, El-Rufai also urged the public to disregard the rumors, describing them as "patent lies." He further revealed that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against the originators of the fake news.

"Please disregard the patent lies and rumors about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers," El-Rufai posted.

PDP Optimistic Ahead of 2027 Elections

In a related development, the national leadership of the PDP has expressed confidence in reclaiming governance at the federal level and securing more state governors in the 2027 elections.

The PDP's optimism was voiced during a visit by the National Working Committee (NWC) to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri at his residence in Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.

Speaking during the visit, PDP National Treasurer Alhaji Ahmed Yayare attributed the party's confidence to widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration, citing economic hardship and governance challenges as key issues driving voter sentiment.

The political landscape remains dynamic as parties position themselves for the next general elections.
