The Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area (LGA), Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, has presented a 2025 budget proposal of N5.012 billion to the Legislative Council for consideration and approval.
The budget, termed the "Budget of Redemption," was submitted during a session held at the council’s secretariat on Monday. The Chairman emphasized his administration’s commitment to honest, prudent, and accountable governance.
Pharm. Yahaya revealed that the budget would be financed through a combination of internally generated revenue (IGR) projected at N43 million, statutory allocations from the federal government amounting to N2.5 billion, and Value Added Tax (VAT) estimated at N1.9 billion.
Allocation Breakdown
Personnel costs: N800 million
Capital expenditures: Over N1.1 billion
Infrastructure and development: Over N3 billion
"Today, I present the 2025 budget estimate of N5,012,500,000, aimed at providing essential services and driving development across Toto LGA," Yahaya said.
He reiterated his administration's dedication to people-oriented policies and programs, prioritizing infrastructure, human capital development, and welfare. Additionally, he assured that security in the area would be enhanced through collaboration with traditional rulers, local security agencies, and other stakeholders, fostering a peaceful environment conducive to investment.
Legislative Response
The Speaker of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Abdulhameed Ayizimazi, commended the Chairman for his transparent leadership and timely submission of the budget. He assured a swift review and passage of the proposal.
"This is the first time the legislature has received a budget for the upcoming year in such an organized and timely manner," Ayizimazi noted.
Dignitaries accompanying the Chairman included the Deputy Chairman of the Council, directors, and heads of departments, among others.
