Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration is surrounded by a more dangerous and sophisticated cabal compared to that of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dalung made this assertion while speaking on Mic On, a podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye. He described the cabal around Tinubu as a well-experienced and informed group that has been entrenched in politics for a long time, making them significantly more dangerous.
According to Dalung:
“Tinubu’s cabal is a more sophisticated group of people who have been in power for a long time. They know power, they are informed, and so they are more dangerous than any other cabal I have ever known or seen.”
He further explained that the cabal serves as gatekeepers to the president, controlling access and shielding him from the realities of governance. Dalung drew parallels with Buhari's administration, recalling an instance where a briefing was blocked out of concern that it could overwhelm the president.
“They don’t allow governance to flow. They shield the president from obvious reality and don’t allow any information to reach him,” he stated.
Dalung's comments have sparked fresh conversations on the influence of power brokers in Nigerian leadership and their impact on governance.
