From Lawal Abubakar Bichi
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has relieved Dr. Hamid Bobboyi of his position as the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), eight months ahead of the expiration of his tenure in August 2025.
Dr. Bobboyi, who began his second and final four-year term on August 1, 2021, following reappointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari, has now been succeeded by Aisha Garba.
Garba, a Senior Education Specialist with the World Bank, brings over 24 years of experience in leading transformative education programmes across Nigeria, Ghana, Somalia, Kenya, the USA, and the UK. Her extensive career includes more than 15 years at the World Bank, where she has been at the forefront of designing, managing, and assessing education reforms aimed at driving human and economic development.
The appointment signals President Tinubu's commitment to revitalising Nigeria’s education sector through experienced leadership and global best practices.
