The Presidency has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains unperturbed by speculations surrounding the 2027 presidential election.
This clarification followed reactions to Tinubu's congratulatory message to Ghanaian President John Mahama on his reelection. A social media user, @shehu_mahdi, questioned whether Tinubu would demonstrate "liver and courage" to congratulate the eventual winner of Nigeria's 2027 presidential election.
The tweet read: “Hope he will have the liver and courage to congratulate the would-be winner of 2027 elections... because there will be no chance to snatch and run away.”
Responding to the comment, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga dismissed the speculation, emphasizing that the President's primary focus is on implementing economic reforms and addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
“Are you a stargazer, or have you already written the 2027 election result? In Politics 101, we know 24 hours is a long time, not to mention 2027. For now, the President is not bothered by 2027; he is focused on his economic reforms,” Onanuga tweeted.
The Presidency urged Nigerians to direct their attention to current governance efforts rather than premature political conjectures.
